Hello, DoubleReed List.

Before I could get too far behind again, I just
read and stored the last week's worth of Double-
Reed Daily Digests. On the subject of Politics, I
have had lengthy discussions with people for
many years and came to one conclusion, many
years ago:

Regardless of which Political Party, Politician,
Religious Leader, Religion, Philosopher, etc., I
have found that I usually strongly agree with at
least a little bit of what they say, strongly disagree
with a lot of what they say, and either mistrust or
regard as "hype" most of what they say.

I'm a 12th Generation American, descended
from settlers who landed at the Jamestown
Virginia Colony in 1619, which was a full year
before those Plymouth Rock Newcomer Snobs
arrived. My grandfathers fought in World War
I & II, to free France from the Germans, while
my father fought in World War II in the Pacific,
to oppose the Japanese, and all three were
officers in the US Navy, with a stack of medals
for each of them.

I was never military, because I've had poor
health all my life, but I was nominated for a
Pulitzer Prize in the Spring of 2003 for writing
two Double Fugue Tributes to the Victims and
Heroes of the 9-11 Attack. Because my father
was Navy, we moved often all my life, so I was
raised with a smattering of several languages
and a deep respect for people of all races, creeds
and languages, except for any bully, tyrant, liar,
con artist, criminal, dictator, or corrupt politician.
I have tributes in my many musical works that
show respect for many cultures and musical
styles.

I vote in every election , and try to pick the
person that I think will do the best job, and
NOT for any one party. (My strongest Political
Leanings are for what I call the "Throw The
Bums Out" Party, which means I usually vote
for someone who has NOT already been in
office, robbing us blind!) I think that should
suffice for explaining as much as I wish to
reveal, about my own politics.

And now for the more profound and serious
issues: I am deeply concerned about these words:

For those of you who watch "Star Trek:
Deep Space Nine", you will all recognize that
this is the core philosophy of the Changelings.
(Those are the creatures that are a yellow,
gelatinous goo, in their natural state. On their
home world, the Changelings merge into a
huge yellow pool called "the Link", where the
millions of them become one being. They can
easily imitate the molecular structure and
physical shape of any animal, chemical or
person. This can come in handy, when playing
Double Reed Instruments, because you can
simply form as many fingers as you need, not
to mention engulfing and blowing as much air
as is required to play LONG phrases!)

This might explain how Dr. Jennifer Paull
can be so proficient on her instruments! (I
notice these things, because the Paranoids
taught me all that they know!) I'm sure that all
fans of mature, Reality TV will agree with me!
