Dear Miriam,
Should you ever venture forth (glocken auf!!) and play
A Flower (underwater version) by J. Cage (con sordino),
the following programme note may be of use. It fits an
amazing amount of music so I see no reason why it
shouldn't be perfectly suited to a bombard recital in
general and underwater Cage in particular.
Just my 2 cents worth (centimes, of course).
Jennifer
The modally conceived contradictions within careful but
cunningly-concealed non-stereotyped parameters are
cleverly calculated to exploit quasi-classical sonata-type
structures which though seemingly non-rhythmic in their
anti-pulsatory prolongations manage to eschew those
outworn and overworked techniques which so often
produce a textually-ambivalent confusion and which
generally result in a totally vacuous and non-meaningful
stasis.
