Yes...that is the correct site from which the quote was taken! My thoughts
last evening were the same as yours. However, I "assumed" that this was a
Jefferson quote, given the context in which it was used, plus there was no other
attribution. There are discussion sites devoted to Jefferson scholarship. I
will attempt to verify it; however, it may take some time. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

I really like this quote, so I went to verify it ... but I can't see
that Thomas Jefferson said it! Could someone confirm that please? I see
it at a site about Jefferson, but it isn't attributed to him. It's just
an intro to quotes by Jefferson that deal with principles of morality
in politics and government (see
http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/jefferson/quotations/jeff0200.htm). Any
help would be appreciated, as I'd like to be sure and quote it
correctly!
