Donna,
Actually that oboe piece from the mission IS ever so haunting and lovely. I
have this CD which i bought from Forrestmusic.com ((Gabriel's Oboe (CD318)
Musica d'Amore del Cinema (music of love from the movies). Performed by
Holly Gornik))
If you really like the oboe part then I really recommend you get that CD. It
includes many other great oboe parts of movie's soundtracks such as Titanic,
Schindler's List and many more. its worth it!!
However, I just wanted to say that on that track on the CD there is a brief
flute part. That part is so sad, melow, and comforting!! In a way it's like
a response to the oboe's cry depicting the tragidy in the movie's story.
I fell in love with the flute part i even bought a flute and started playing
the part!! (traitor!!) ;)
my 2 cents.
