I must confess my ignorance. Is a Heckelphone the same as a bass oboe or is
bass oboe just substituted for Heckelphone? Where does one rent a
Heckelphone? What about reeds? Should an oboist/English hornist be able to transition
to Heckelphone fairly easily? We are doing "Salome" next season here in
Orlando. We will probably do one of the reductions available, but some of them
require Heckelphone.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
