From: "Lacy, Edwin" <el2@-----.edu> Subj: [DR-L] help with hot glue on bassoon reeds Date: Fri, 20 Feb 2004 00:05:38 -0500
There has been quite a lot of talk on one or both of the lists recently
about using hot glue on the tube of the bassoon reed, so I thought I
would give it a try. So, tonight I covered the back of four reed blanks
with hot glue, and I would say that these are undoubtedly the ugliest
reeds I have ever made. The back of the tube looks like some misshapen,
molten mass that might have been featured in a science fiction movie and
called "the blob."
So, my questions are, what is the method you use to apply the glue, and
how do you control the shape of the result?
