Ah, yes, those days of standing in front of the band playing a Bb
(listening to a Bb tuning fork, of course...)
BTW, if stuck with a tuning fork and having trouble hearing it, try the
following:
put the palm of one hand over your ear. Strike the tuning fork and then
touch the non-forked end of it to the elbow of the hand that's held over
your ear. This is the biggest amplifier I found back in those days.
Mostly good ole human bone...
