Indeed, my sister, a violinist, uses a tuning fork. For a string player, it
works well. Strike the tuning fork, then press it against the bridge of the
instrument, and compare that with the plucked string.

I was amazed the first time I saw it demonstrated. Tuning forks on their own
are virtually silent, but press one against the bridge of a stringed
instrument and it sounds clearly. Show what excellent mechanical amplifiers
the body of stringed instruments are.
