I'm just coming out of a "can't get my knife sharp" phase myself. The
latest fads for sharpening in our reed room are the Super Punjab and fine
ceramic (Spyderco) for finishing. Lately, though, I find that I have to use
a diamond stone on my oldest knife before going to the finer stones. I also
discovered that the lighter the pressure you use, the sharper you can get
your knife. Good luck!
