Subj: [DR-L] knife sharpening
Date: Mon, 17 Nov 2003 14:06:48 -0500

Dear reeders,

I have been studying and following the technique for knife sharpening in the
article by Michael Rosenberg (Knife sharpening: Bearing the Burr-don) which
appeared in The Doublereed and recommended at one time by Margaret Copeland.

Is Mr. Rosenberg still around? The address and ph no. given in the article
are from 1980, and I didn't want to use that.

I would like to have Margaret's email also -- Margaret, haven't seen you on
the list for quite a while! Where are you?

My sharpening technique is improved, but I'm not getting a 'frighteningly
sharp' edge, sharp enough to shave hair easily. Usually, I don't like the
edge quite that razor sharp for most scraping, but, as you know, a duller
edge will not give us the fine tips needed for oboe reeds.

Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Miriam
