<<<Did anyone ever notice the brilliant use of bassoons in the score of
the movie "The Wizard of Oz"...whoever orchestrated that score was such
a genious...i wonder if the score is gone forever? Anyone have any
input?>>>

BTW, the bassoonist on that soundtrack is Don Christlieb, now deceased,
but a former honorary member if the IDRS. He also played in hundreds of
other movies, including Gone with the Wind. He wrote an interesting
book called, I believe, Recollections of a First Chair Bassoonist, in
which he relates many fascinating stories about his professional life
and the many show-biz personalities he knew.
