mentioned by Langwill, a five-key and a six-key. Porthaux' bassoons in
the Conservatoir and elsewhere range from five to seven keys. Modern
bassoons, for comparison, sport keying systems distributed around '25'.
[The bassoon I learned on in High School had 25, if I remember rightly,
under the left thumb were C/D/B/Bb, and (bottom to top on the right) c#,
the two keys for high a, and the one key that let high c speak. I
believe that the school got, just after I left, another bassoon with two
more keys for d and e. ]
