Subj: [DR-L] Fred Vogelgesang/Brahms Trio

Fred Vogelgesang is still a member of the NYCO, although he is taking the
fall season off. He is an extremely interesting person. He indeed recorded all
three parts of the Trio(I have a copy.) He has also recorded several other
records of violin rep with piano accompaniment (also played by him). He loves to
tell stories of Tabateau, Schoenbach , etc., from his Philly days. He chooses
wild projects, such as figuring out fingerings for fanfares to be played by one
violin, e.g., the MGM fanfare-far out! He may be in his 80's, although I am
not sure, and is still in love with music. He is also a model train fanatic!
Was friends with many of the famous comedians of the previous era and I think
conducted on Broadway as well!?! A bit cantankerous, but lovable. I may be
able to put him in touch with interested parties, although I can't guarantee it.
