Get a separate pair of glasses just for reading music. They can be
single vision, or what they call "executive bifocals" where the reading
part covers most of the lens with a strip of distance vision at the top
so you can see the conductor (they can put the break between the 2
anywhere you want it -- you'll want it at the top of the music stand so
you can see both music and conductor without moving your head ). Neither
should require a new examination -- just ask your optometrist for the
appropriate prescription. If you go for the executive bifocals, be very
precise about exactly where you want the line to be -- you'll probably
want it higher than they usually make them.
