Subj: [DR-L] Which Bassoon Stand?
Date: Thu, 11 Sep 2003 14:17:52 -0400

After months of being unable to play my bassoon due to DeQuervains Disease
(inflammation at the base of thumb) at my right wrist, some trigger point t
herapy has me just about ready to start playing again.

I've been reading a lot about posture and playing position to see if I am a
dding to my problem. Being a production hand weaver, with its attendant re
petitive stress does not help the situation!

I've discovered that sitting on a pizza paddle (to make my chair wider on t
he right) and using a seat strap enables me to play with the least pain.

Does anyone have experience with the Vonk stand? Can you recommend anythin
g else? I should add that the compensation I make for my right wrist has s
tarted problems on the outside of my left wrist so I don't want to add to t
he weight supported there.
