Hi Andy,
I have seen the sheet music for this piece, and here's what I can remember
from the composer notes--It was written as an encore for Heinz Holliger, to
perform after he (maybe premiered?) the Carter Oboe Concerto. It was
written as a tribute to Dr. Paul Sacher, so the piece consists of only the
6 notes (letters) Es (e-flat) A C H (b-flat) E R (re, or 'd'). I can't
remember any extended techniques, but it didn't look easy either (is there
anything that was written for Holliger that is?). Now I wished I'd bought
it...and I can't remember the publisher. But it certainly looked
interesting.
I hope I've remembered everything correctly. I hope someone will be able to
add to this?
Jennifer
