There are a few options for oboe and band (I know of nothing for 2 oboes
and band-there are two oboes and orchestra...).
1. Rimsky Korsakov variations. This is a nice piece, easy band parts
and could be flashy using some of the variations. With only five
minutes, you would not be able to do all variations, but you could do
many.
2. Last year at the Florida music convention, there were two new
arrangements for oboe and band. The Marcello c minor and the Telemann a
minor. These both are pretty good arrangements and if you are
interested, I could send you a sample CD and the information on where
you can purchase the arrangements. I don't have it in front of me but I
will locate it. Seems to me, for some reason, the arrangement does not
include all movements of the Telemann. The Marcello, I feel, is a
better arrangement.
BTW-what is your last name? I think I recognize your e-mail address as
one of my customers.
Take care and hope this helps

Subject: [DR-L] Oboe and Band, Oboes (2)and band, Oboe & E.H. and Band
Hello,
I am hoping someone here can help me!
I teach oboe and bassoon lessons in Texas. Recently one of the bands I
work with was selected as the BBB Honor Band to perform at the Texas
State Music Convention in February. The band director is wanting to
feature one of my oboe students on the concert and we are looking for
music! She even said that if we found a duet with oboe or english horn
that I could play on the concert with my student. So, we are searching
for appropriate music for the concert. It should be about 5 minutes
long, have band accompaniment that isn't too too difficult, and
something just a little flashy. If you have any suggestions I would
REALLY appreciate it!
Thank you in advance,
Caryn
