Another person who logs on here just listed the web address of Martin
Schuring who has made some very accurate and valuable drawings with
thicknesses and other measurements in millimeters of various areas of an
American style oboe reed. I found these drawings to be extremely helpful.

These will give you a very good explanation of how the American style oboe
reed is constructed.
