Dear Sameer,
There is a book by Evelyne Rothwell about European-style reeds. Contact
Howarth.Co in London about it. I'm sure you can order it from their
site.
The difference between the French/Englsh/German reeds is shown in
photos inside.
There is also one by Alai Girard "Le Roseau Chantant" which is in 3
languages - Franch, German and English, There are many illustrations.
However, it is not the reed that makes the player. If I play upon
reeds of
different schools, I still sound just like myself. One may be
preferable to
another, but it's only a means to an end.
I have an American student whose reeds are very good and I love playing
them when she comes, although my own are greatly different.
It is not because you have a French scrape that you will sound like
Pierre
Pierrelot. The lightness of is sound is no longer fashionable in France
today,
either.
So what? Exactly. Do what suits you and pleases your ear, not fashion.
You will also find all of the equipment you need at Glotin or Howarths.
Best wishes,
Jennifer
