That seems to redeem him, them. Perhaps those that bid already can
retract their bids without penalty, if they so desire, since they now
know the item is not a Heckel. If I were that seller, I would end the
auction and start over again.

The seller appears to have done something reasonably responsible. The
ad is now updated with the following disclaimer:
"THIS ITEM WAS BOUGHT IN MY STORE. I DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT. PEOPLE
HAVE EMAIL ME THAT THIS IS A HECKEL SYSTEM MADE BY SCHREIBER. ITS SAYS
ON IT MODEL HECKEL. IT IS NOT HECKEL MAKE. BID ON IT ACCORDINGLY. IF YOU
HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING."
