Subj: [DR-L] Kohlert Bassoon K532
Date: Fri, 1 Aug 2003 06:22:21 -0400

Hello,
As a clarinet player I always loved to play bassoon,
but... the budget.
Now I saw an offer for a Kohlert bassoon with the
number (type?) K532, said to be dated around 1890.
Physically it looks used but OK. The salesman warned
that the system used was outdated, but couldn't tell
which it was. The price would be somewhere around US$
1000. Now, by reading this list's archives and other
sources, I think the general opinion is that some
Kohlert bassoons are very decent bassoons for a
starter or even better, but some other series should
be considered quite horrible.
Could anyone please help me out with the question if
this bassoon would make me, being a student on a tight
budget happy.
Thanks in advance,
Sitske
