Another tried and true way to record a bassoon sound was recommended by Dr.
Arthur Benade, one of America's most treasured woowind acousticians, and my
good friend for many years. Benade said, "put the microphone in the corner
of the room on the floor, on a little mike stand. Sit or stand about 15 feet
back from the corner and play into the corner. The microphone will record in
a stereophonic way having part of the emitted bassoon tone coming from its
right side and the other part of it from its left side, not to say other
sound emanating from other parts of the room in reflection. Sincerely,
Gerald Corey.
