I agree with David on this one. I would use wire on oboe reeds in a heartbeat if it was manageable, but so far it is not. I use wire on english horn reeds and oboe d'amore reeds. I've always enjoyed the extra control I have with the wire on these reeds. I think, as David said, that it inhibits the vibration of the oboe reed too much too be of any benefit.
