Subj: [DR-L] Bulgheroni Oboes

Thanks a lot for the earlier suggestions about
instrument purchases. I went to Mark Chudnow's and in
my price range the best instruments I found were two
Bulgheroni Como oboes, one in grenadilla and one in
rosewood. I took them on trial and took them to a
lesson with the woman who will most likely be my
teacher in college in the fall. She thought they were
decent instruments but was hesistant to recommend
either of them, because she had never played on them.
(she preferred the grenadilla because of its more even
scale and she said rosewood will be more likely to
crack, is this true?). Anyway, does anyone know
anything about these oboes? Any history of quickly
blowing out or opening up and getting a much worse
scale? The instruments played well know, but she was
mostly concerned with how they would change over time.
Any information about Bulgheroni would be greatly appreciated.
