Yikes,

I thought EVERYONE knew were Marin County was, after all the publicity that
young Taliban guy got.

Tennessee Valley is about ten minutes or and hour north of San Francisco,
depending on what time of day you are driving. (It's between Sausolito and
Mill Valley for those of you who have perhaps touristed through the area.)
San Francisco is on the West Coast of America, sort of half way between
Mexico and Canada.

Yes, it is a volunteer orchestra. I'm told they number about 40 or 50
players, and am getting the impression it is a pretty good crew. I've signed
on for this next set of rehearsals and concert. I'm looking forward to
meeting whoever else comes aboard to handle the oboe parts. (Maybe we share
first chair. Maybe one or the other will be clearly more skilled. I'm happy
to play either chair.)

Some of us are dedicated amateurs (or students) with opinions that are
expressed in hopes of getting useful feedback or learning something from our
more professional colleagues. I was kind of shocked at the response to the
recent observation on shaper tips, but then, I'm starting to get used to Mr.
Dlouhy's acerbity. Maybe maintaining such "high standards" for voicing
opinions would be more fitting on the more exlusive IDRS list?

Next time I suggest someone write this list (I was the one who suggested
Laura give it a try), I'm going to have to warn them how cranky it can get!
