Subj: [DR-L] Brannen "Extra Narrow" shaper tip
Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2003 18:16:55 -0400

I'm tired of lurking, so let me post a question...

When I started my shaper tip business, I measured a lot of Brannen
X's and a lot of Brannen N's. I had always 'known' that the N was
Narrow and the X was Extra Narrow.

Imagine my surprise when I found the X to be wider than the N!

Do any of you greybeards out there know the origin of Bob Brannen's
naming scheme?

And don't talk about individual variation, please. I measured 11 X's
and 10 N's on an exceedingly accurate coordinate measuring machine,
discarded the widest and narrowest 2 and averaged the rest for a
'middle of the bell curve' result.

I've always been curious about this, and Rhondda's post jiggled me to ask...

The Tone is a castle in the air.
Imagination is its architect.
Nerves carry out the plans.
Muscles are the laborers.
The soul inhabits it.
