Subj: [DR-L] shaper tips for oboes
Date: Sun, 6 Apr 2003 20:22:07 -0400

Hi list,

I've been interested in buying a shaping tip/handle for my reed making for a
while now, but with all the different kinds out there it's pretty
overwhelming!! A friend of mine said that he recommends Caleb -1 to his
students or the Adam tips, though they are terribly expensive. (I haven't
been able to find any on the web so I don't know exactly how expensive) I've
also heard that RDG tips -1N are less expensive and also excellent and
perhaps this route might be a better one for me to take for my first venture
into shaping. Have any of you out there had experience with any of these or
have other recommendations?

I also wanted to ask if there is much of a difference when it comes to silver
or brass staples (besides the obvious price difference that is)?

Thanks,
Emily
