Dear list et al:

I don't claim to be the worlds leading authority on bassoons, but I do have a substantial education in it and a busy freelance career. I perform regularly on Yamaha Bassoon #2054 and have won auditions on it and performed in some pretty discriminating situations with it. To date, I have played about 15 Yamaha bassoons who all showcased remarkable similarities from one to another. I was even able to convert a professor who routinely outfitted his studio in 601's to Yamaha. I had the keywork altered as soon as I bought it to be slightly more ergonomic. Yamaha has sinced remedied this. Matching a bocal to it was (is) a bit of an ongoing challenge but the most success I've had so far is a prewar Heckel c-1 or a Yamaha SuperBocal.<BR>As far as their potential quality is concerned, all I can say is: "Damiano Who??!"

Submitted with the utmost respect to the list's contributors.

All the best,
