I know several people who play on Yamaha bassoons and who like them very
much. I have tried them each year since they first came out, including
their prototype instruments, serial numbers 1 and 2. To me, the have
some positive and some negative aspects. I have always thought that
their tone quality was very good. However, to me their keywork always
felt very awkward and uncomfortable in the hands. I think that has
gotten somewhat better in recent years.
