Co-op Press announces a competition for woodwind performers for their
artistic interpretation of the music of composer, Sy Brandon as exemplified
in a digital recording of one of the selected competition pieces. A panel of
judges will award prizes of $500, $300, and $200 to the first, second and
third place winners respectively. The works for this competition that involve
oboe and bassoon are "Lyric Piece and Dance" for oboe and piano, "Prelude,
Bacchanale, and Reverie" for oboe and piano, "Sonatina" for oboe and bassoon,
"Two Vignettes" for solo alto saxophone with flute, clarinet & bassoon, and
"Chaconne and Variations" and "Introduction and Rondo", both for woodwind
quintet. The deadline for receipt of entries is May 1, 2003. For more
