Shawn, reeders:
Well, yes this could be a can of worms. What works for one in one season may not work for another player in another season or
situation.
I have recently been using Danzi cane (gouged and shaped, Miller Marketing). I am still experimenting, but have found it to be
smooth-grained, fairly easy to work, and I got good results on this last reed. It came up to pitch over the course of 3 days; I was
worried at first it would stay flat. I just like the resonance and flexibility I got. Michael Benthin says this cane is more dense -
he can send you the pics in comparison with other cane.
I have also found it to be beneficial to do the finishing over three to five days, and really let the cane settle into shape after
initial scraping. I expect this reed to last 3 to 4 weeks, which means I'm playing it nearly every day.
A previous reed I made from Danzi lasted nearly 4 weeks and was rejuvenated somewhat even after the tip frayed and was clipped a
hair to remove the frayed edge. However, I tied several before I got one that didn't leak (which I discarded), but I figure it was
worth it.
YMMV - get 10 pieces and see what results you get.

share their cane reccomendations ; -) I'm looking to purchase a new batch of cane and am curious what everyone is finding as far as
quality lately of various brands (not quality nowadays versus quality 30 years ago :-))
