Many years ago (around 1975) , I picked up a copy of Sergio Penazzi's Metodo
Per Fagotto which contains a fingering chart and method. Its purpose was
"demonstrating new techniques...permit the exploitation of all those
monophonic and multiphonic possibilities..." (It comes complete with
recommendations for lip placement). It was part of a series put out by
Bruno Bartolozzzi: Nuova Tecnica Per Strumenti a Fiato Di Legno. Its aim was
to both supply the bassoonist with the information, but also to open the
options for composers.

I'll check on current price and availability.

I have a tape of the Boulder Bassoon Band from over ten years ago on which
they talk about "the bassoon's ability to play chords." Do any of you
bassoon gurus know how to finger that kind of stuff? Maybe it just takes
some fiddling for a few hours trying every possible combination of keys.....
