There are probably some fingerings that sound with boosted near overtones t
hat might lead one to imagine one can hear chords.

But boosted near overtones can also be called attenuated upper ones, or, if
you like, a notch out of the instrument's timbre.

I have a tape of the Boulder Bassoon Band from over ten years ago on whic
h they talk about "the bassoon's ability to play chords." Do any of you bas
soon gurus know how to finger that kind of stuff? Maybe it just takes some
fiddling for a few hours trying every possible combination of keys.....
