Comments  Lengthy, ambitious work in 12-tone serial style. Difficult. Second movement requires piccolo instead of flute. If your quintet wants to be known as adventurous interpreters of 20th century music, you need to perform this work sometime. Once you sink your teeth into it, there's a lot to like. The second movement proves that Schoenberg had a sense of humor.
