| Comments | The creative spark for "Phrase" comes from the idea of contrasting a highly active surface texture with a slow moving harmonic background, thereby creating an inherent paradox; music that is simultaneously static and animated, analogous to raindrops on the surface of a lake. The titles of each movement describe, with artistic license, reinterpretations of a single musical gesture or phrase (short, short, long) common to the melodic construction of the classical masters. | ||
