1. Convocation:
The Musical Artistic Union of Montroy (Unión Artística Musical de Montroy)
calls the First International Clarinet Contest “Villa de Montroy”.
1.1. The contest will take place in the Musical Artistic Union’s facilities,
in the Concert Hall and in the Summer Auditorium “Jardines de la U.A.M.” in
Montroy (Valencia – Spain), from 27th July to 1st August 2003.
2. Objetives.
At this contest we intend to discover, promote and impel the development of
clarinet players to achieve a future with goals that help them find a
broader artistic path; and for those who already have a defined professional
path, find new motivations and experiences for the job that they carry out.
3. Participants.
3.1. This contest is open to all clarinet players of any nationality.
3.2. This contest will be organized in two categories:
3.2.1. Category 25: 18 to 25 years old (born from 1978 to 1985).
3.2.2. Category 35: 26 to 35 years old (born from 1968 to 1977).
4. Participants’ obligations.
4.1. Participate in all and every established audition within the timetable
and date that the jury determines. The lack of attendance to the auditions
will determine the disqualification of the participant, with no right to the
refund of the cost of the entrance fee.
4.2. The participants should present themselves for the opening of the
contest on Sunday 27th July 2003, at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the
Musical Artistic Union of Montroy (Valencia), C/ Ausiàs March, 43. The
participation draw will be held here. This order will be maintained until
the end of the Contest.
4.3. To be admitted in the contest, the participants should accredit the
enclosed inscription form and the report of the bank transfer of the 60 €.
4.4. The participation application forms should be sent before the closing
date , 1st July 2003, along with a copy of the Personal Identity Card or
Passport, 2 photographs and the musical biography with the name of the
teachers with whom one has studied.
4.5. The Contest Organizers will provide accommodation and meals for the
participants who should apply. The cost of the accommodation and meals will
be at the participants cost.
4.5.1. Meals.
4.5.2. Accommodation.
4.6. Every participant who reaches the Final Audition will be provided with
the accommodation and food free of charge for this audition, if they should
so desire.

4.7. The contest is public, for this reason it is open to everyone.
Participants who do not reach the Second Audition, can assist the whole
event at their own choice.
4.8. Any kind of accident that the participant may suffer during the contest
or the trip, will be the Participants Responsibility.
4.9. Other information regarding the development of the contest, will be
received by the participants from 27th July.
4.10. The participants waiting their turn to perform, will be able to
rehearse in a suitable room that will be shown to them.
4.11. Once the participants have passed the Second eliminatory audition,
they have to participate gratuitously in all the activities organized by the
Contest Directives; the organization reserves all the publicity rights.
4.12. The participant accepts all the regulations of the Organizational
Committee and of the Jury.
4.13. The Closing Ceremony of the Contest will be held on 1st August at 9
p.m., in which the First Prize winner will play, and if the Jury should so
decide, another prize winner may play too.
4.14. If any participant should have any problem in getting the musical
Works, they can ask the Contest Organization who will provide them.
5. Contest Development:
5.1.1. The contest is made up of three auditions, each one of them is
eliminatory.
5.1.2. In the three auditions the Works and Editorials will be compulsory.

5.8. In case two finalists receive the same amount of points for the First
Place, the jury will give Clarinet Solos in Orchestral Works to decide who
the winner of the first prize is. If the jury considers them to be in “ex –
aecuo”, the respective prizes will be shared between the different winners.
6. Prizes.

Certificate and badge, a Buffet Crampon Prestige clarinet granted by RIVERA
MOTA S.L., a pack of Products for Clarinet 200€ worth granted by RICO
COMPANY and a Concert with the Chamber Orchestra “Perpetuum Mobile” from
Riazan (Russia) in a Concert Hall (still to be determined) in the Valencian
Community.
6.1.2. Second Prize. 800 €, Certificate, badge and a Concert with the “Unión
Artística Musical de Montroy” (U.A.M.) Symphonic Band.
6.1.3. Third Prize. 500 € (Juventudes Artísticas de la U.A.M. prize).

6.2.2. Second Prize. 800 €. Certificate, badge, and a Concert with the
“Unión Artística Musical de Montroy” (U.A.M.) Symphonic Band.
6.2.3. Third Prize. 800 € (Junta de Damas de la U.A.M Prize). Certificate,
badge and a pack of products for clarinet 200€ worth from RICO COMPANY.
7. Extraordinary Certificates (with no economic compensation).
7.1. The one who gets the maximum mark in one of the Works played, will be
awarded a “Certificate of Special Merits”. This applies to all of the
auditions.
7.2. Those who get to the Final Audition will receive a Finalist
Certificate.
7.3. Those who get to the Second Audition will receive a Semi-finalist
Certificate.
7.4. Those who pass the First Audition will receive a Certificate of
Participation.
8. Jury.
The Jury who have to judge the Contest has been appointed by the Organizing
Committee of the Contest (O. C. C.) led by Mr. Luis Sanjaime Meseguer
(Spain) and the Artistic President Mr. Juan Armas Pizziani (Cuba –
Switzerland).
The panel of judges is made up of personalities who have been awarded in
several national and international contests. They all have a lot of
experience as juries of different Contests, furthermore they have extensive
practice as clarinet solists in the different musical areas. They are great
pedagogues of the Clarinet in the different levels of learning and in
Clarinet systems.
8.1. Members of the Jury.

8.2. Lines of work of the Jury.
8.2.1. The Jury will score each participant individually. In this way all
those who reach a certain minimum score, will be able to pass into next
level.
8.2.2. There will be no limits in the number of participants that can go
through to the second or final audition. The auditions are not cumulative.
The Jury hope that the Contest will transmit a positive experience for the
participants and that they remember this event with joy.
8.2.3. In the case that none of the participants should obtain the required
points for one of the prizes, the prize would not be awarded and it would be
accumulated for the next contest.
9. Piano accompaniment.
The Contest organization has accompanying pianists at the disposition of the
participants. The rehearsal will be shortly before the participants turn to
perform in the different auditions. The contestants who would like extra
rehearsals, which will be at their own charge, should inform the O.C.C. in
order to organize them.
The contestant who should require, can bring and play with a pianist that
they have chosen themselves.
10. Orchestral accompaniment.
The Chamber Orchestra “ Pertpetuum Mòbile” from Riazan, Russia with the
collaboration of the Wind Instrumentalists of the Valencian Community.
11. Activities parallel to the Contest.
During the contest, participants who should require, can carry out recitals
of different kinds. These recitals culminate as a complement and
illustration with the small night time serenade. The duration will be one
hour of program, from 21:30 to 22:30, each participant will have 15 minutes
of program.
Courses (from 2 students ) Or Individual Masterful Classes:
The participants who reach the Second Audition or the Final Audition (to
help them prepare them), can have at their disposition (if they should so
desire) Masterful Clases. In order to do this they should get in contact
with the O.C.C.
